New York + Hollywood = Big Catastrophe

What's up with all this Hollywood movies being shot in New York? And for some reason, all, if not mostly revolve around catastrophic disasters or some post(pre) apocalypse scenarios.

Now, they got a real thrill with Cloverfield. Its just released so I'm not really sure what the movie is about. But after a good deal of slight reading it goes something along the lines of Godzilla, another New York base movie.

If you don't believe what I am writing, here's a quick list of movies based around New York. Not in chronological order though. This list is tilted toward genre that involves big explosions or a serious catastrophe.

• Day After Tomorrow

• Armageddon

I might not get a lot (for now), but I'm sure the next one will.

The list goes on and on, so I'm providing this - a whole list of movies set in New York. I hope that proves my point.
